York has created a nice medium-quality 28.5mm bar at a great price point.

Although this bar has a 700lb static test, that does not factor in the torque during certain exercises. Just to give you an idea, you would probably be okay using this bar for bench press up to 400lbs, deadlift up to 300lbs, and squat up to 300lbs. But if you drop the loaded bar hard on a rack, those estimates are out the window.

This bar is not designed to be dropped with bumper plates. Get one of our higher quality bars for that.

We highly recommend upgrading to the York North American Bar, which is stronger, more durable, and spins better.
